My partner and I stayed for 2 nights at Bovey Castle as a pre-Easter weekend getaway. Although a little tricky to get to as a result of its location the hotel was stunning. Our room had a very comfortable bed and an excellent view with a superb amenities box. We also loved all the differently designed rooms on the ground to relax or have afternoon tea in. Unfortunately, during our stay the Dartmoor weather was extremely unpredictable and an unexpected dump of snow whilst we were out in a neighbouring town for dinner meant we got stuck in the snow and had to get towed. The hotel staff were exceptional in the assistance they provided in helping us recover the car, and the night manager even picked us up from a nearby village to help us get back to our room safely. Additionally , when we were stranded waiting for the tow truck, one of the porters who had helped us check in during the afternoon drove past us but came back over 15 mins later to check if we were alright - we can’t remember his name but the we appreciated his gesture hugely. Despite this, the rest of our stay was very relaxing and we enjoyed the falconry display (shout out to Frank the falcon who also joined us at breakfast the next day), a delicious meal in the Western Grill restaurant, and the jacuzzi and sauna were put to good use! Overall, our stay at Bovey Castle was certainly memorable and I would recommend it highly to anyone wanting to experience a getaway in all senses of the word. We’ll be back, just maybe firmly during the summertime.

LikedHotel was in a lovely location in Dartmoor National Park. Staff were really lovely and attentive.
DislikedWe were really looking forward to having a nice indoor pool to use but unfortunately the pool was cold and therefore we didn’t use it. There was no mention from staff that there were any problems but I am certain that an indoor pool should not have been that temperature! Very disappointed.

LikedI really enjoyed our stay at Bovey castle. It’s a beautiful building in a stunning setting, the weather was awful, but it was still beautiful. The staff were the standout part of the stay, always so friendly and helpful.
