About Addison

Located on the banks of White Rock Creek, Addison is a restaurant-filled town north of Dallas. It was originally known as Noell Junction after one of its early settlers, Sidney Smith Noell, and was later renamed after an early 20th-century postmaster, Addison Robertson.

Things to do in Addison

Aviation enthusiasts can visit the Cavanaugh Flight Museum, which is based on the personal collection of Jim Cavanaugh. Get up close to Fokker and Halberstadt aircraft used during World War I, as well as a Curtiss Warhawk and a de Havilland Tiger Moth from World War II. In addition to restoring vintage aircraft, the museum houses an art gallery featuring works by Keith Ferris, William Phillips and Stan Stokes.

Addison is also home to the Mary Kay Museum, which explores the history of the cosmetics company and its founder. It occupies the glass-walled lobby of the Mary Kay World Headquarters and boasts a theatre where motivational speeches by Mary Kay Ash are screened. See the boardroom where a scene from “Dallas: JR Returns” was filmed and step inside the 13th-floor office of Mary Kay, which has been maintained as it appeared when she led the company.

One of Addison’s most popular green spaces is Celestial Park, which features tree-lined walking trails and steps engraved with inspirational quotes and poetry. Hugging White Rock Creek north of Celestial Park is The Clubs of Prestonwood where you’ll find two championship golf courses, a golf academy and a miniature golf course.
