About Ogden

Ogden is lined with boutique shops, galleries and gourmet bakeries that sit among a ferocious dinosaur park and retro drive-in theatre. Ogden is also a gateway to the Wasatch Mountains, where you can carve up powdery slopes and hike in alpine meadows.

Kids will love the open-air Ogden Eccles Dinosaur Park, home to over 100 life-size dinosaur sculptures brought to life with animated robotics and a state-of-the-art sound system. The park also boasts the Stewart Palaeontology Museum, which showcases enormous dinosaur skeletons and the world's largest articulated Barosaurus spine.

In winter Ogden is a gateway to the Wasatch Mountains, where you'll find top-tier ski resorts like Snowbasin and Powder Mountain. The latter boasts 2,800 hectares of skiable terrain and an impressive 500 inches of powder. In summer, both resorts offer scenic hiking and biking trails.

Step back in time to the 1940s and enjoy a night at Motor-Vu Drive-In, a vintage drive-in movie theatre screening the latest blockbusters. Don't forget to load up on hot dogs, popcorn and candy. On Saturday mornings the theatre hosts a flea market.

Don't miss the chance to sip on ice-cold beer at Shooting Star, a tiny bar that claims to be Utah's oldest continuously operating saloon. It's been serving patrons since 1879 and is known for its signature “starburger” topped with a Polish knockwurst sausage.

Getting around Ogden

Downtown Ogden is easy to get around on foot, especially along 25th Street. Rental cars are the best way to explore the Ogden Valley region. Ogden is a 45-minute drive north of Salt Lake City.
