About Passau

Set at the junction of three rivers, Passau is one of the most picturesque cities in Germany. The Altstadt occupies a narrow peninsula and is criss-crossed with cobbled lanes and alleys. Strolling around the old town, you’ll be enchanted by pastel-coloured Gothic, Baroque and Italianate buildings.

Built in the 13th century, Veste Oberhaus towers over the city and commands sweeping views over the rivers. Inside the medieval stronghold is the excellent Oberhausmuseum, where you can learn about the rich history and heritage of Passau.

Getting around Passau
