About SoHo

Referring to the area “South of Houston Street”, SoHo is an artistic Manhattan neighbourhood clustered with designer boutiques, private galleries and upmarket restaurants. Most of the area is included within the SoHo-Cast Iron Historic District, which is notable for its Belgian block and cast-iron architecture.

Things to do in SoHo

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, don’t miss the Museum of Ice Cream, which allows you to explore immersive art installations while enjoying unlimited ice cream. In addition to a three-storey indoor slide, there’s a bouncy castle and a sprinkle-filled pool. Sundaes, milkshakes and cocktails are available at the retro-inspired cafe and bar while ice cream-themed memorabilia fills the gift shop.

Works by Abel Azcona, Catherine Opie and Andy Warhol are showcased at the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art, which is dedicated to the preservation and exhibition of LGBTQ+ art. In addition to its permanent gallery space, it hosts temporary exhibitions by guest curators throughout New York City. The museum is a short walk from the Drawing Center, where you’ll find gallery spaces and workshops dedicated to the craft.

On the edge of SoHo is the triangular-shaped Father Fagan Park, which commemorates a priest who perished while saving others during a 1938 fire. You can relax on a park bench and watch the world go by or dine at one of the many restaurants located nearby. Feast on Italian cuisine at the CICCIO Bar & Alimentari or enjoy Greek classics at the high-end Lola Taverna.

Getting around SoHo

SoHo is around 15 minutes’ drive from Grand Central Terminal and 45 minutes from John F. Kennedy International Airport, which has flights to destinations across the globe. Subway services stop at the Canal Street, Spring Street and Prince Street stations while buses travel along SoHo’s major thoroughfares.
