40 kilometres south of Moscow, Domodedovo International Airport is one of the largest in Russia and one of three major airports in Russia's capital. Handling over 30 million passengers every year, the airport has a single terminal and is connected to the city with a variety of ground transport. It's a hub for various Russian airlines, including Yamal, Ural, S7 and RusLine. These mostly operate domestic flights, but the airport is also used by a wide variety of international airlines, flying routes to Europe, East Asia, Central Asia and the Middle East.

The large terminal is split into domestic and international concourses. All parts of the terminal are connected by covered walkways, with dining and shopping facilities dotted throughout the airport. There are also ATM and money exchange facilities within the terminal including, both before and after immigration.

A non-stop express train connects Domodedovo International Airport with the central Moscow Smolenskaya station in 45 minutes. From here it's easy to change onto Moscow suburban trains and the Moscow Metro. There's also a slower commuter train that stops at stations in the south of Moscow on route to the centre. Local bus services provide connections to destinations outside Russia's capital.

The airport is named after the town it was built in, Domodedovo. Officially opened in 1965, it underwent massive expansion in the 1990s and is Moscow's major airport for long-distance domestic flights and routes to former Soviet countries in Central Asia.
