Get lost in Homel Park, an urban one-kilometre-long oasis on the Sozh River. You can stroll along tree-lined paths, walk over beautiful footbridges and relax at one of the open-air cafes. Stop to admire the magnificent St Peter and Paul Cathedral, a 19th-century monument set in beautifully manicured grounds.

Built in the late-19th century, Homel Palace dazzles with its grand Neoclassical facade and soaring Corinthian columns. It's perched on a hill overlooking the Sozh River and houses a lavish museum showcasing gleaming antiques and historic artwork.

Just north of the city, the Gomel Regional Museum of Military Glory showcases vintage aircraft, firearms and official uniforms. The Museum of Criminology exhibition offers a glimpse at the country's forensic units and law enforcement agencies.

Bite into Gomel's cosmopolitan food scene at Provence, a chic riverside restaurant serving contemporary fare like sous vide salmon. In the basement you can sip craft cocktails and dance to house DJs at Kvartirnik, one of Gomel's trendiest bars.

Getting around

Much of Gomel is easy to get around on foot, especially in the riverfront district. The city is serviced by buses and trolleys, while taxis are also available. Flat terrain makes bikes a great way to explore the city. The train station is in the city centre and offers connections to Kyiv and Minsk.
