About Phang Nga Bay

Instantly recognisable, Phang Nga Bay is one of Thailand’s top natural attractions. It’s part of the Ao Phang Nga National Park and is best known for its towering limestone karsts that rise out of the emerald green Andaman Sea. Phang Nga Bay is the epitome of a tropical paradise, with lush jungles, hidden sea caves, shimmering lagoons and secluded beaches to explore.

By far, Phang Nga Bay’s most iconic karst is James Bond Island. It earned its name when location scouts chose it as the hideout for Bond's antagonist in 1974’s hit movie, The Man with the Golden Gun.

Koh Panyee is another highlight, tucked away in the northern end of the bay. The tiny Muslim fishing village is built entirely on stilts and offers a fascinating glimpse at life in rural Thailand.

While most people day trip from Phuket or Krabi, it’s also possible to stay on nearby islands. Ko Racha is popular with scuba divers, while Ko Yao keeps things luxe with a handful of upmarket resorts.
