About Foggia

The Province Of Foggia is an enchanting pocket of Italy where you can hop between mountains, beaches and rolling hills in a matter of hours. The cuisine is a highlight, with everything from rustic Puglian dishes and ocean-fresh seafood to rainbow-coloured gelato on the menu.

Things to do in Foggia

Parco Nazionale del Gargano occupies a peninsula known as the “spur” of Italy’s boot. It’s one of the largest national parks in the country and protects a striking landscape of rugged limestone cliffs and jewel-toned beaches. The interior is a patchwork of mountains and ancient oak and beech forests.

The coastal town of Vieste is set within the park and is perched atop white limestone sea cliffs. Get lost in the winding alleys of the old town, admire the 11th-century Norman cathedral and dine at atmospheric restaurants serving delicious Puglian cuisine. Vieste is flanked by a pair of sandy beaches, including postcard-worthy Spiaggia di San Lorenzo fringed by an arc of honey-coloured sand.

Peschici cascades down a cliffside to a gold-sand beach. The old town is encircled by medieval walls and filled with whitewashed houses and centuries-old churches. Boat tours depart from the harbour and take you to Isole Tremiti, a small archipelago with crystalline water perfect for swimming and snorkelling.

Nestled in the Daunian Mountains, Bovino is regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in Italy. The evocative castle and cathedral recall the village’s ancient past.

From family-run tavernas to fine dining restaurants, the dining options in the Province of Foggia are incredible. Most menus feature traditional dishes from the Puglia region, including focaccia topped with herbs and olive oil, grilled “caciocavallo” cheese and “orecchiette” pasta served with wilted greens. Enjoy “cartellate” pastries flavoured with honey and almonds for dessert.
