Perched in the north-west of Saraburi Province, Wat Phra Phutthabat is an ancient Buddhist temple built atop one of Buddha's footprints. A steep staircase leads up to a hilltop pavilion where you can admire colourful ceramic tiles, intricate mother of pearl artwork and sweeping views of the countryside.

Saraburi, the lively provincial capital, is set on the Pa Sak River. The town was founded in the 16th century and is dotted with ancient architecture dating back to the Ayutthaya Kingdom. Spend your time relaxing at riverside cafes and visiting local temples like Wat Siburi Rattanaram, which houses a smiling statue of Buddha.
