The lady at reception gave us a room away from the elevator so it was one of the quietest rooms we had in New York (which for a light sleeper like me is great). Now the rooms are compact but clever ideas like the storage for your suitcase under the bed helps maximise the space. Other small things like having a separate compartment in the fridge for your own drinks show that the hotel really has put thought into what travelers want. The bed is very comfortable and provides for a good night's sleep. The bathroom is modern with a large walk in shower and nice toiletries to refresh in the morning. Now what really makes the difference here are the staff. They are super friendly across the board and extremely helpful. Also the attention to detail like the very delicious treats from turn-down service, to offering free umbrellas (which came very handy during the snow) to the bellman asking if we would like a bottle of water before we leave after having stored our bags for the day. You would not get these in any of the top 5 star luxury places and it really makes you feel extra welcome and wanting to return. While you are staying and fancy a drink I would recommend visiting the the rooftop bar as it offers a great vista of the ESB and Midtown. The only item to maybe look at is the WiFi (which is free and good speed) and the need to log in every day and sometimes even a few times a day. But this really is a first world problem. Looking forward to returning in the near future.
