Where to stay in Flesland

About Flesland

Named after an old farm that once occupied the site, Flesland is a small village on the Bergen Peninsula’s west coast. It’s largely encompassed by Bergen Airport and boasts a lookout with spectacular views across its terminal buildings and runways.

Stretching along the western side of Flesland are the runways of Bergen Airport, an international transport hub that is the second-busiest airport in Norway. It’s home to the Bergen Aero Klubb where you can learn to fly and near the OSS Craft Distillery, which makes award-winning botanical gin.

For some of the best views in Flesland, follow the walking trail that leads to the Luftvernbatteri, an old battery that offers sweeping panoramas across Bergen Airport. Another scenic trail hugs the waterfront on the opposite side of the airport and enjoys views towards the neighbouring island of Bjorøyna.

Getting there

Flesland is the site of the Bergen Airport, which has flights to destinations across Europe. The centre of Bergen is 20 minutes’ drive from Flesland, with a light rail system connecting to the airport. Buses travel throughout the village, although having your own vehicle gives you greater freedom to explore.
