Showcasing Macau’s famous East-meets-West atmosphere, Senado Square is lined with pastel-colored European-style buildings. Located in the city center, it’s also noted for its distinct mosaic wavy tiled paving.
Sit in the square by the ornate fountain, browse the souvenir shops or dine in one of the traditional Chinese restaurants around the square. Walk off the square to explore the yellow-painted St. Dominic’s church with its museum housing paintings, sculptures, and ornaments dating back to the 17th century.
Keep walking and you’ll discover the Ruins of St. Paul’s, one of the most famous landmarks in Macau, and the Macau Museum with historic relics. You can also time your visit for the annual Chinese Spring Festival held in the square, where you can watch fireworks and lion and dragon dances.
Getting there
Senado Square sits in Macau’s city center and can be reached on local buses to Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro stop, while taxis are also available. It’s about 10 minutes from Macau International Airport.
