About Agva

Nestled between two creeks, Ağva is a popular beachside resort in the Şile district of Istanbul. It lies on what was once known as Bithynia, an ancient kingdom that existed from the 3rd to 1st centuries BC, and later became known for its production of hand-woven Şile cloth. Up until the 1950s, the surrounding woodlands provided an important source of charcoal for Istanbul.

Beach umbrellas and sun loungers are available for rent and there are a handful of nearby restaurants serving locally caught seafood. A short drive west is Karacaköy Plajı, a picturesque bay with calm waters that make it ideal for families.

On the other side of Ağva is Plaj Bağirganlı, a Blue Flag beach that stretches for more than 500 metres. It centres around an impressive labyrinth and features children’s play areas and a relaxing cafe. Tractor and ATV rides are available and family-friendly workshops are held throughout the year.
