Hovering off the coast of Abu Dhabi, Lulu Island is a manmade breakwater that’s now a popular leisure destination. You can soak up the sun on the beach, swim in the sparkling Arabian Gulf and take in stunning views of the Abu Dhabi skyline.

Lulu Island is fringed by a golden sandy beach that faces the Abu Dhabi Corniche, offering a beautiful spot to swim, sunbathe or enjoy a picnic. If you're feeling adventurous, you can even kayak, stand-up paddleboard or jet ski to Lulu Island from the mainland.

The island is anchored by a pair of freshwater lakes that attract a constant stream of birds. The lakes are a scenic place for a walk if you want to venture off the beach and are home to woodcocks, snipes and cormorants. If you're lucky, you might even spot majestic peregrine falcons soaring overhead.

You'll find plenty of boats departing from the jetty near Emirates Heritage Village. The reconstructed Bedouin settlement is a fantastic place to discover Emirati history, culture and tradition. Highlights include the goat's hair tent and an ancient falaj irrigation system. You can also attend workshops covering metalwork, pottery and weaving.

Getting around

Access to Lulu Island is by private boat only, which means you'll need to commission a ride. There's something for every budget, from small dinghies to luxury yachts. There's no transport on the island, so walking is the only way to get around.
