Beto Carrero World is one of the biggest theme parks in Latin America, featuring heart-racing roller coasters, thrill rides and family attractions. The enormous park opened in 1991 and occupies more than 14 square kilometres. The park is divided into nine themed areas and welcomes visitors with a life-size medieval castle painted in a rainbow of bright colours.
Thrill-seekers make a beeline for the FireWhip, a roller coaster which hits speeds of almost 100 kilometres per hour. Big Tower stands 100 metres tall and sends you freefalling at 120 kilometres per hour. Visit the Hot Wheels Epic Show to watch high-speed car races and death-defying motorbike stunts.
The Venetian Carousel is popular with younger kids and features beautifully painted animals. Water rides like the Raskapuska log flume are great for cooling off on a hot day. Step into the cavernous Magical World of Birds aviary to get up close with toucan and parrots.
Getting there
Beto Carrero World is located in Penha on Santa Catarina Island, 35 kilometres from Balneário Camboriú and 120 kilometres from Florianópolis. Parking is available on site and Florianópolis International Airport is a 1.5-hour drive south.
