Bowling Green houses the manufacturing plant of the Chevrolet Corvette. Therefore, it is fitting to begin a city exploration at the National Corvette Museum. Visitors will enjoy discovering more about the history of the Corvette, America’s legendary sports car. The museum features over 80 vehicles, including one of a kind prototypes, limited edition cars and interactive trivia kiosks. It’s a must see for all car enthusiasts. Bowling Green is filled with parks and green spaces and is also home to Kentucky’s only underground cave boat tour, Lost River Cave. A perfect day out for all the family, take a guided tour to see the Wishing Rock, cathedral-like caverns and narrow underground passageways. Alternatively, those wishing to explore local history can head for Kentucky Museum or the Historic Railpark and Train Museum. Visitors eager to indulge in retail therapy will find several shopping malls, vintage stores and antique markets within the city. Dining out is a fun experience in Bowling Green too. Visitors can opt for American Grill and Barbecue Restaurants, or sample Mediterranean or Mexican cuisine.

Bowling Green can be reached in less than an hour from Nashville International Airport, or within two hours from Louisville International Airport. If arriving into Nashville, Bowling Green operates a shuttle service from the airport. Within the city, itself, most of the museums and parks are easy to reach on foot. However, for destinations on the cusp of the city limits, GO BG Transit buses operate several fixed routes. Taxis and Uber operate throughout the city.

Bowling Green was founded by pioneers in 1798. It became the capital of Confederate Kentucky during the American Civil War. Today, the city is home to many U.S. manufacturers including General Motors and Fruit of the Loom clothing, and the city has built all the Chevrolet Corvettes since the early 1980s. This university city has a laid-back ambience. Its proximity to beautiful national parks makes it the ideal area for lovers of the great outdoors, and visitors keen to explore its Civil War history.
