Tackle the entire 25-kilometre stretch from Golden Beach to Kawana or appreciate the headland cliffs and sparkling blue waters from the shoreline. Adrenalin seekers can also explore Moreton Bay on a jet-ski safari to see turtles, dugongs and dolphins.

Spend a day at Kings Beach, with its enchanting rock pools, patrolled oceanfront and saltwater swimming pool. Stand-up paddleboard in the still waters of Bulcock Beach, before enjoying a game of cricket, frisbee or football in Happy Valley. A popular grassy park spanning the coastline, it offers picnic facilities and incredible views of the rugged Glass House Mountains.

Visiting Saturday morning? Meander through the Caloundra Street Fair, where you can find local handicrafts, fresh produce and live entertainment. Head to the esplanade to unwind with a pint of Stone & Wood on the balcony of Drift Bar or try Queensland’s legendary Morton Bay bugs at Tides Waterfront Dining.

Experience thrilling animal encounters at Australia Zoo. See the larger-than-life reptiles launch from the water’s edge in the famous Crocoseum and get up close and personal with koalas, wombats and kangaroos on Bindi’s Island.

Getting around

The town centre of Caloundra is easily explored on foot. However, a car is ideal for making the most of your time on the Sunshine Coast. Caloundra is 30 kilometres south of Sunshine Coast Airport and 100 kilometres north of Brisbane Airport. Buses, trains and private shuttles connect with Caloundra, and there are several car rental companies around town.
