Dhrousha is a charming village framed by forested hills and mountains. Narrow streets lined with traditional stone houses give the village a postcard-perfect feel. Get lost in the maze-like streets and stop to admire the brightly painted wooden doors and window frames.
Dhrousha is perched on a plateau and sits 640 metres above sea level. Around every corner, you’ll get spectacular views over the surrounding mountains and countryside, with glimpses of the sparkling Mediterranean Sea in the distance.
Strolling around the village, you’ll be lured into taverns serving traditional Cypriot cuisine. Try local specialties like fried “halloumi” cheese drizzled with lemon juice and sprinkled with parsley, “kleftiko” roasted lamb and “moussaka” eggplant lasagne.
Aside from beautiful views and excellent cuisine, Dhrousha is famous for its 15th-century monastery. The complex is nestled in the forest and features sturdy stone walls. The scenic trails around Dhrousha are great if you want to hike, cycle and birdwatch.
Getting there
Dhrousha is in the Paphos District, a 15-minute drive from Polis Chrysochous and 45 minutes from Paphos. The village is compact and easy to get around on foot. Taxis are a fast and affordable way to visit Dhrousha or you can rent a car. Paphos International Airport is a one-hour drive away.
