About Durian Tunggal

Tucked away on the northern outskirts of Malacca, Durian Tunggal is a small town on the road connecting Kuala Lumpur with Johor Bahru. It lies on the doorstep of a huge reservoir and the Bukit Batu Lebah Recreational Forest, which is renowned for its hiking trails and accessible caves.

Things to do in Durian Tunggal

Sprawling north-east of Durian Tunggal is the town’s namesake reservoir, which serves as an important source of water. It’s watched over by several houses of worship, including the Masjid Lama Machap and the Sangili Karuppar Temple, which is decorated with colourful statues of Hindu gods. On the southern edge of Durian Tunggal Reservoir is The Touch City, which celebrates Chinese Buddhist culture.

Travelling with kids? Visit Melaka Wonderland, a family-friendly theme park known for its water-based attractions and rides. You can fly down the Kamikaze Racer, brave the Tornado Chaser or float around on an inner tube in the Big Wave Pool. Young kids will love the Adventure Island playground and the Family Jollies waterslides.

Adjacent to Melaka Wonderland is the Melaka Botanical Garden, which was originally established in 1984 as the Ayer Keroh Recreational Forest. In addition to a museum dedicated to Malacca’s forestry industry, the garden is home to the Malaysia Book Village, children’s playgrounds and several picnic spots. At Zoo Melaka, you can get up close to Malayan tigers, Asian elephants and red pandas.
