Take the U-Bahn underground train to the centre of Eimsbuttel where you can enjoy brunch at any number of local cafes before heading to Eimsbutteler Park, a green oasis perfect for families. With picturesque green trees, a central lake and a kid’s playground, hours can be spent relaxing away from the crowds.
For those after some quality shopping time, head to Osterstrasse street, the main thoroughfare lined with shops. Wander off the main street to find a variety of local boutiques before heading over to Jellyfish restaurant to dine on locally sourced fish.
For those who love the great outdoors, take a 15-minute drive north to Niendorfer Gehege, an open recreational park populated with green forest and roe deer. A refreshing walk in the park amidst flora and fauna offers a nice way to start the morning.
If the kids are in tow, then head to Tierpark Hagenbeck for a day at the zoo. With a variety of biological species and outdoor enclosures, there’s fun for the entire family. Arrive here early to beat the crowds and head to the petting zoo for some quality time with the animals.

Eimsbuttel sits just 25-minutes south of Hamburg Airport and only 20-minutes north of central Hamburg. Transport links include a city train, underground railway, public buses and taxies. For those after a workout, hire a city bike and zip around the district.
