Where to stay in Falmouth

About Falmouth

Falmouth is a picturesque town with sun-drenched beaches and historic Cape Cod architecture. It's also brimming with boutique shops, chic cafes and upscale restaurants, along with fascinating museums and a flourishing local theatre scene.

Things to do

Enjoy a day of Cape Cod sunshine on Old Silver Beach, a long stretch of sand anchored by a rock jetty. Kids will love swimming on the sandbars and exploring the tidal pools. Surf Drive Beach is another local favourite, with golden sand and uninterrupted views of Martha's Vineyard.

Housed in a pair of 18th-century houses, the Falmouth Museums on the Green showcase the town's rich history. In addition to displaying period antiques and art, the museums teach you about Katharine Lee Bates who wrote the nation's iconic “America the Beautiful” lyrics.

Falmouth is home to the fantastic Cape Cod Theatre Project, which connects professional actors and playwrights from across America. The quality is exceptional and many of the performances have gone on to reach Broadway. The College Light Opera Company is another cultural highlight, with previous shows including “My Fair Lady” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”.

Just a few kilometres out of town, Woods Hole is a charismatic seaside village known for its postcard-perfect wooden marina. The village is the starting point of the Shining Sea bike path, a scenic 17-kilometre trail along the Cape Cod coast.

Getting around

Falmouth's pedestrian-friendly streets make it easy to get around on foot or on bicycles. Local buses run throughout Cape Cod. Summer ferries run from Woods Hole to Martha's Vineyard.
