About Fažana

Located on the west coast of Istria, Fažana is a picturesque town and seaside resort that looks out towards the Brijuni Islands. It’s home to atmospheric alleys, outstanding restaurants and beautiful beaches, all on the doorstep of historic Pula.

Stroll through Fažana to admire its colourful houses and visit the 16th-century Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian, which houses a painting by Giorgio Ventura. You can people-watch along the promenade and photograph the fishermen’s boats bobbing in the water before dining on regional delicacies at one of the waterfront restaurants.

Fažana is a charming base for exploring the islands of Brijuni National Park, which lie directly across the Fažana Strait. Archaeological and cultural sites dot the archipelago and Cretaceous-era dinosaur footprints have been discovered on Veliki Brijun Island. You can visit the remains of Roman villas and a Byzantine fort before touring the Knights Templar-built St. Mary’s Church.

Getting there

Fažana is around 15 minutes’ drive from Pula and 20 minutes from Pula Airport, which has seasonal flights to destinations across Europe. Buses travel from Pula to Fažana and boat tours connect to the Brijuni Islands. The village centre is compact enough to explore on foot.
