About La Trinité

Overlooking a protected bay on the east coast of Martinique, La Trinite is a small town and the gateway to the Presqu'île de la Caravelle. It lies on the doorstep of sun-drenched beaches, centuries-old castle ruins and engaging museums exploring the region’s cultural, artistic and agricultural heritage.

Things to do in La Trinité

At the entrance to La Trinite is Plage des Raisiniers, a picturesque cove of white sand that offers beautiful views across the bay. For a quieter beach experience, head north to Plage de l'Autre Bord, which looks out toward the islet of Saint Aubin. On the other side of the bay is the palm-lined Plage de Cosmy, from where you can snorkel amidst gorgonian fans.

Extending east of La Trinite is the Presqu'île de la Caravelle, a protected peninsula renowned for its rugged coastline, blissful beaches and sugar cane fields. You can explore along the short hiking trail that leads to the nature reserve’s mangrove forest or follow the longer circuit that connects to the Caravelle Lighthouse. Also within the Presqu'île de la Caravelle are the 17th-century ruins of Château Dubuc.

At the Musee de la Banane, you can learn about the cultivation of bananas in Martinique and the more than 60 different varieties that are grown on the island. Its La Bananeraie restaurant specialises in Creole dishes featuring bananas. Combine your visit with a stop at the nearby Maison du Bele, which is dedicated to this uniquely Creole musical style.
