About Mudanya

Mudanya is a sun-drenched resort on the Sea of Marmara, where you can kick back on the beach, soak in thermal spas and devour freshly-caught seafood at waterfront restaurants. There's also plenty of history, including the original house where the landmark Armistice of Moudania was signed.

Things to do in Mudanya

Mudanya's biggest draw is its pristine beach, fringed by pebbly white sand and crystal-clear water. Spend the day relaxing under a straw umbrella, cooling off in the Sea of Marmara or enjoying some paddleboarding and snorkelling.

Back in 1922, Mudanya bore witness to the milestone Armistice of Moudania agreement, which officially acknowledged the Republic of Turkey. You can learn more about this significant moment at Mudanya Mutareke Evi Muzesi, a pocket-sized museum housed in the whitewashed 19th-century building where the agreement was originally signed.

Mudanya hauls in some of Turkey's best seafood, and there's no better place to enjoy it than one of the resort's breezy waterfront restaurants. Mevlana Kebap & Balik is a firm favourite, run by a friendly local family. Save your appetite for grilled octopus, fried calamari and ice-cold beer.

Break up a few days of sun and sand with a day trip to Bursa. It was the first capital of the Ottoman Empire and is strewn with soaring mosques, leafy courtyards and historic architecture. Mudanya is also near Cekirge, a spa town known for its mineral-rich Turkish baths.

Getting around Mudanya

Mudanya is best explored on foot and accessed via public ferries that run from Istanbul to Mudanya in around two hours. You can also drive there from the nearby city of Bursa, which takes around 45 minutes.
