Where to stay in Nahariyya

About Nahariyya

Nahariya is a laid-back town on Israel's Mediterranean coast, dotted with swaying palm trees and fringed by golden beaches. Spend your time sunbathing on the sand, cafe hopping on Ga’aton Boulevard and visiting hidden sea grottoes.

Things to do

Lined with whitewashed houses, Ga’aton Boulevard is Nahariya's lively main strip. The spacious boulevard is dotted with sun-dappled cafes and outdoor restaurants. You'll also find a cluster of trendy boutiques and upmarket hotels.

Nahariya is just a few minutes from Rosh HaNikra, a towering sandstone cliff known for its aquamarine grottos. A cable car whisks passengers down the cliffside and unlocks access to the enchanting sea caves. You can also explore the grottoes via a walking path that winds into the caverns.

Nahariya is fringed by golden sand, which makes it a mecca for sunseekers. Sokolov Beach is one of the town's most popular places to swim, sunbathe and enjoy a picnic on the grassy foreshore. If you want to make a splash you can also rent kayaks, paddleboards and windsurfing gear.

Lieberman House recounts the early years of Nahariya when the town was settled by Jews emigrating from Europe. The land was originally purchased from a local Lebanese family, with the immigrants quickly building roads, farmhouses and plantations. Inside you'll find original photographs, educational videos and local memorabilia.

Getting around

It's quick and easy to get around Nahariya on foot or by using local taxis. The town is also the northernmost stop on the Israel Railways line. Both the train ride and the drive to Haifa take around 30 minutes.
