Where to stay in Ordino

About Ordino

Nestled on the slopes of Casamanya, Ordino is the most northerly parish in Andorra. It centres around a medieval core and lies on the doorstep of Sorteny National Park, which is the largest protected natural area in the sovereign state. In 2010, Ordino was declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve for its rare and endangered species.

Things to do

In the heart of Ordino is the Casa d’Areny-Plandolit, which originally dates from the 12th century but has been refurbished several times since. Join a guided tour to learn about the d’Areny-Plandolit family while admiring the centuries-old furnishings and decorations on display. Surrounding the stately home are beautifully landscaped gardens and the Andorra National Auditorium is located next door.

If you’re visiting in the winter months, you can hit the trails of the Ordino Arcalís ski resort, which is the most northerly ski destination in Andorra. It offers more than 30 kilometres of groomed trails to explore, including off-piste skiing routes. You can learn to ski and snowboard with professional instructors at the on-site school, then refuel at one of Ordino Arcalís’s cafes or restaurants.

In the summer months, the mountainous terrain surrounding the Ordino Arcalís ski resort becomes a hiking wonderland, with a highlight being the Estanys de Tristaina. This spectacular route leads to a series of high mountain lakes where you can refresh with a swim. At the start of the trail, be sure to admire the Arcalís 91 monument, an impressive steel ring designed by the Italian sculptor Mauro Staccioli.

Getting around

Andorra–La Seu d'Urgell Airport is an hour’s drive from Ordino while Perpignan–Rivesaltes Airport is three hours away. Buses connect Ordino with Andorra la Vella while having your own vehicle gives you greater freedom to explore the region.
