About Øyer (Hafjell)

Carved by the Gudbrandsdalslågen river, Øyer is a scenic municipality north of Lillehammer. It’s clustered with family-friendly attractions, including the Hunderfossen Adventure Park and the Hunderfossen Children’s Farm. It also encompasses an impressive alpine centre built for the 1994 Winter Olympics.

If you’re visiting in the winter months, head to Hafjell Alpinsenter for ski trails and terrain parks that cater to all experience levels. It was constructed for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer and has several slopes that are suitable for professional skiers. You can take advantage of the family areas or get active in the Burn Railgarden, which features 10 different boxes, rails and wall rides.

Travelling with kids? Don’t miss a visit to the Hunderfossen Adventure Park, a troll-themed amusement park nestled in beautiful surroundings. You can explore the Fairytale Palace, get your adrenalin pumping on the Il Tempo Extra Gigante rollercoaster or brave the whitewater rapids. In addition to its swimming pools and waterslides, the park features a high ropes course, electric go-karts and a John Deere-themed Tractor Track.

Adjacent to the park lies the Hunderfossen Children’s Farm, a late-18th-century smallholding that offers up-close encounters with friendly Norwegian farm animals. Also nearby is the Norwegian Road Museum, which houses interactive exhibits detailing the development of the country’s road network and its use throughout history. In the outdoor playground, kids can ride a horse-drawn coach or drive pedal cars along the purpose-built track.
