Things to do in Satu Mare

Spreading along the north side of River Somes, the Old Town area cradles most of the city’s museums and ancient churches. Start with breakfast or coffee in the central Piata Libertatii, then wander through the Orthodox Church of the Archangels Gabriel and Michael. In Piata Pacii square, you’ll find the Hungarian Reformed Church and its impressive collection of plates, glasses and bells from the 1600s.

Travelling with the family? Spend an afternoon at Aquastar Satu Mare Water Park, which boasts rides, slides and saltwater mineral pools. You can also book a therapeutic or bubble massage and work out in the fitness centre.
