Experience the beauty of Thompson along Spirit Way, an award-winning 2.5-kilometre trail that you can traverse on foot or bike. It takes you past 16 points of interest and ends at Miles Hart Bridge. It also offers you a chance to see the world’s largest lighted mural of a Robert Bateman wolf painting.

You can’t fully appreciate Thompson without stopping to admire its 35 whimsical concrete wolf statues, called the “Wolves Along The Way”. You can purchase a GPS Wolf Passport and track down each statue, which offers its own story and is painted by a talented local artist.

Enjoy the outdoors at Pisew Falls, located an hour’s drive south of Thompson, where you can hike through the lush forest and reach a suspension bridge that winds behind the cascading water. A magnet for outdoor adventurers, Paint Lake Provincial Park is a great place to enjoy camping and fishing.

Getting around

You can access Thompson by flying into Thompson Airport, which offers flights from Churchill, Coral Harbour, and Winnipeg. There are also train services from Churchill, The Pas, and Winnipeg. The best way to get around is by car, while buses and taxis are available.
