About Zator

Located on the banks of the Skawa River, Zator is a historic town in southern Poland that has previously been ruled by the Habsburg monastery and Nazi Germany. It is renowned as a centre for carp farming and home to several family-friendly attractions that include the immense Energylandia amusement park.

Things to do in Zator

One of Zator’s most striking architectural landmarks is Prince’s Castle, which was established in 1445 for defensive purposes. In 1836, it was remodelled by the Potocki family as a palatial residence and has been recently restored. Adjacent is the Roman Catholic Parish of St. Wojciech and Jerzy with its distinctive side tower. On the southwestern edge of Zator is the Jewish Cemetery with its Hebrew-engraved headstones.

Travelling with kids? Don’t miss a visit to Energylandia, a 70-hectare amusement park and the largest of its kind in Poland. It’s home to giant roller coasters, gentle rides and water attractions set across several themed zones. You can experience the twists, turns and drops of the “Zadra” before riding the “Swiss Water Cups” or enjoying the pint-sized “Crazy Clown” carousel.

Life-like animatronic dinosaurs are the main highlight of Zatorland, a family-friendly attraction that sprawls across 20 hectares on the shores of a peaceful lake. It features obstacle courses inspired by Greek mythology and exhibits dedicated to insects, as well as a funfair and a 5D cinema. From the park, a scenic walking trail hugs the banks of the Skawa River.

Getting around Zator

Zator is around an hour’s drive from Krakow and 40 minutes from John Paul II Kraków-Balice International Airport, which has flights to destinations across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Regular trains connect to the Zator railway station and buses travel throughout the town.
