Situated in the heart of the city’s theatre district, the Louisville Palace Theatre is a historic music venue that’s hosted some of the world’s biggest names. It opened in 1928 as the Loew’s and United Artists State Theatre, with its ornate interior making it a popular venue for live recordings.
Admire the Louisville Palace Theatre’s Spanish Baroque architecture, which was designed by John Eberson, with upcoming shows displayed in lights across the entrance. Step inside to see the richly adorned interior, with a vaulted ceiling decorated with dozens of historical figure sculptures and an imitation nighttime sky.
Coincide your visit with a performance by local Kentucky musicians or check to see which touring bands are scheduled to play. There are bars on both floors of the theatre, as well as plenty of restaurants serving a diverse range of cuisine in the surrounding streets.
Getting there
The Louisville Palace Theatre is a 15-minute walk from the banks of the Ohio River and is easily accessed by bus numbers 19 and 21 that stop near the entrance. Louisville International Airport is 10 minutes’ drive from the theatre.
