About Betws-y-Coed

Betws-y-Coed is a postcard-perfect village set in the heart of Snowdonia National Park. The name translates to Prayer House in the Wood in English, a reference to its setting in the Gwydir Forest. Victorian-era buildings line the streets, many reimagined as cafes, pubs and guesthouses.

From family-friendly footpaths to challenging day hikes, Betws-y-Coed offers easy access to a variety of trails. The trail to Swallow Falls skirts the banks of the River Llugwy and finishes at one of the tallest waterfalls in Wales. Scenic trails also wind through Gwydir Forest and take you under a canopy of oak, larch and beech trees. Mountain bikers love the adrenaline-fuelled Gwydyr Mawr Mountain Bike Trail.
