Discover the fascinating creatures that live under the sea at SEA LIFE Charlotte-Concord, where you can get up close to thousands of aquatic animals, including turtles, sharks, dolphins and fish. There are also interactive touch pools and a 360-degree ocean tunnel that immerses you in life under the surface. Part of Concord Mills shopping mall, the aquarium is easily combined with retail therapy or a movie at AMC Concord Mills 24.

Looking for some outdoor recreation and relaxation? Head to Frank Liske Park, which was once a farm, but is now a popular park with picnic pavilions, athletic fields, a mini-golf course and a fishing and boating lake. Alternatively, head to Vietnam Veterans Park to play some disc golf, watch ducks on the pond or let the kids run wild on playgrounds.

Those interested in a slightly left-field cultural experience should visit the Carolina Renaissance Festival on a weekend during Autumn. This beloved Renaissance event has traditional music, turkey dinners, costumed characters and delicious ale.

Hang out around the centre of Concord, particularly along Union St South to visit a wealth of local boutiques and restaurants. Visit Cabarrus Creamery for delicious ice cream, Cabo Winery for regional wines and Mekong Thai Restaurant & Bar for authentic Thai cuisine. The Bead Lady is great for avid crafters, while Ellis Jewelers specialises in religious and birth accessories, as well as wedding jewellery.

Getting around

Concord is easily reached by either flying into Concord Regional Airport or Charlotte Douglas International Airport. You can get around Concord by catching the local buses or hailing a taxi, while the downtown core can be explored on foot.
