Nicknamed the “Cruise Capital of the World”, the Port of Miami is the largest passenger port on Earth. It’s located in Biscayne Bay to the east of Downtown Miami and features eight passenger terminals, as well as extensive facilities for cargo handling.
Marvel at the state-of-the-art gantry cranes that are among the largest in the world and the ultramodern cruise terminals, which have been redeveloped as part of the port’s recent facelift. In addition to boutique terminals catering to small vessels and luxury cruises, the Port of Miami has large terminals that can handle the industry’s new generation of mega ships.
Step inside the “Crown of Miami” terminal, which was designed by Royal Carib-bean and is named in honour of its angular glass architecture. If you want to watch the cruise liners turning before or after they dock, head to the oceanside Museum Park just across Biscayne Bay.
Getting around Port of Miami
The Port of Miami can easily be accessed by trolley from Downtown Miami or is around five minutes by taxi. Miami International Airport is a 20-minute drive from the port.
