About New England

New England covers multiple states, including Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. They come together to form a region known for its culture, history and food. New England includes major cities such as Boston and Providence, as well as famous destinations like Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod.

Since so much of the region borders on the Atlantic Ocean, the seafood here is unparalleled. Sampling New England’s famous clam chowder is a must, but don’t forget to try the famed cranberries as well. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, make sure you try a Boston cream pie for dessert.

New England is one of the regions first populated by European settlers, with Puritans arriving in droves in the early to mid-17th century. This rich history is still visible in the architecture throughout the region, with New England’s top sights including the Freedom Trail in Boston, First Baptist Church in America in Providence and Plimoth Plantation in Plymouth.

Getting there

The largest airport in New England is Logan International Airport in Boston, which welcomes flights from around the United States and rest of the world. You can also fly into several other New England cities, such as Portland, Hartford and New Haven if you prefer to start your holiday elsewhere.
