About North Pattaya, Pattaya

North Pattaya is a vibrant resort located in the Thai city of Pattaya. The district is renowned for its world-class shopping, glorious beaches and exotic nightlife. The area is popular with families, friends and single travellers all seeking different experiences of Thailand.

North Pattaya is close to Beach Road, stretching all the way from Dolphin roundabout to the neon-lit entertainment centre and go-go bars of Walking Street. There’s much to see in North Pattaya including the ornate temple known as The Sanctuary of Truth. The wooden temple is bedecked with elaborate wood carvings and offers great insight into the Buddhist religion. Mini Siam is nearby, a park containing miniature replicas of all of the major Thai and world historical sites. Visitors can see the Bridge over the River Kwai, the Grand Canyon and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. A pleasant walk away is Art in Paradise, another popular day out for all the family, it’s a fun, interactive experience which moves away from the traditional art gallery. For shopping, Central Festival Pattaya Beach is home to bars, restaurants and boutiques. Alternatively, walk along the beachfront to Mike Shopping Mall for souvenirs and local handicrafts. The streets of North Pattaya around Soi Buakhao or LK Metro offer lively nightlife. Travellers can enjoy the famous Alcazar Show or Tiffany Cabarets which dazzle and delight onlookers. Alternatively, sample dishes of delicious Thai cuisine in one of the nearby restaurants or street markets. When recovering from a hectic evening, indulge in a traditional Thai Massage or relax on the beautiful beach of North Pattaya.

It’s easy to get around North Pattaya on foot, as attractions and entertainment areas can be reached within half an hour. Alternatively, journey throughout the resort on the cheap and discover cheerful “baht bus”, a small pickup truck which stops at all of the tourist attractions and shopping malls. Pattaya City bus service operates routes which encompass north and south Pattaya and Sukhumvit Road. If arriving from Bangkok, there are buses and fixed price taxi services available.

The resort of Pattaya was originally a fishing village up until the 1960s. During the Vietnam War, a group of American troops visited the area during their rest period. The word spread that this location was a hot alternative to Bangkok and many more troops and visitors began to arrive. The fishing huts were eventually replaced by condos and retail malls and these days, the resort attracts over 4 million tourists each year.
