Stuart is a lively city set on the Atlantic Coast and surrounded by white-sand beaches and rolling dunes. It’s set on the Treasure Coast, a region rich in history and natural beauty. The vibrant downtown district will charm you with its mom-and-pop shops, independent galleries and hip cafes, bars and restaurants.

Walk around the pedestrian-friendly downtown district filled with historic buildings. Shop for souvenirs at mom-and-pop shops and discover local talent at independent galleries. The Stuart Heritage Museum charts the unique narrative of the city. It’s housed in a historic agricultural building and filled with pioneer-era antiques and artefacts. Stuart Green Market is held every Sunday and attracts vendors from across Martin County.

Explore unique coastal landscapes at Seabranch Preserve State Park. The park features a mix of pine scrub, scrubland and mangrove swamps and is an important habitat for bald eagles and swallow-tailed kites. If you’re lucky, you might spot gopher tortoises, bobcats and Florida sandhill cranes.

Accessible only by boat, St. Lucie Inlet Preserve State Park protects a pristine stretch of sandy beaches, mangroves and live oak forests. Follow the boardwalks through the park and look for green, leatherback and loggerhead turtles nesting on the sandy beaches.

Stuart is famous as the “Sailfish Capital of the World” and attracts anglers from around the world. Boat tours take you into the St. Lucie Inlet, where you can reel in trophy-sized sailfish. At more than five metres tall, the famous Sailfish Statue towers over Downtown Stuart and captures the power and beauty of the enormous fish.

Getting around Stuart

Downtown Stuart is pedestrian-friendly and easy to get around on foot. Local buses are a fast and affordable way to get around the city, while rental cars offer the freedom to explore the Treasure Coast at your own pace.
