Bewdley is an attractive market town set on the River Severn and surrounded by forests and farmland. Stroll around the town centre filled with Georgian buildings, ride the historic Severn Valley Railway and explore an ancient woodland.

Bewdley is home to a wealth of heritage-listed buildings, including Georgian gems like the Parish Church. Walk around town to see half-timbered buildings from the Tudor and Jacobean eras. You’ll find an excellent selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants in the lively riverside district.

Learn about the rich history and heritage of the tow at the Bewdley Museum. Engaging exhibits cover everything from World War II to the town’s heyday as an inland riverport. The museum is in an arcade known as The Shambles, which once housed the town’s local butcher shops. Today the brick storefronts have been repurposed as galleries and studios. The museum backs onto the flower-filled Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Gardens.

Wyre Forest protects a pocket of ancient woodland. It’s one of the largest woodland reserves in England and is a great place to spot wrens, woodpeckers and other birdlife. Walk along the scenic trails or rent a bike and explore the forest on two wheels.

Bewdley Bridge spans across the River Severn and was designed by famed British engineer, Thomas Telford. It was completed in 1798 and features a trio of elegant arches. Walk across the bridge to admire the beautiful stonework and enjoy views of the Bewdley waterfront.
