About La Ronde

Perched on the banks of the St-Lawrence River, La Ronde Amusement Park is one of Canada’s most popular theme parks. It’s owned and operated by the iconic Six Flags group and is a big-ticket attraction for anyone in search of thrills, spills and screams.

For adventurous visitors, La Ronde Amusement Park is home to a fantastic line-up of white knuckle rides. There’s also plenty of family friendly fun on offer, from mini rollercoasters and carousels to live entertainment. Visitors enjoy a host of tasty dining options, serving pizzas, ice cream, popcorn and of course, Montreal’s trademark poutine. Originating in Québec, it’s a calorie loaded delicacy made up of fries, cheese curds and gravy.

For most people, a trip to La Ronde Amusement Park starts in Montreal. It’s located on Ile Sainte-Helene, just across the Jacques Cartier Bridge. There’s parking available on-site, though most visitors choose to take the metro to Jean Drapeau or Papineau station, then ride a shuttle bus to La Ronde. From Old Montreal, the waterfront walk to the amusement park takes around one hour.

While today La Ronde is one of the most recognised theme parks in Canada, it wasn’t always about twists, turns and stomach-wrenching drops. It was originally built in 1967 for Montreal’s World’s Fair, which set record attendance numbers. At the time, visitors flocked to enjoy its carnival rides, theatres, beer halls and restaurants.
