About Morayfield

Centred around a bustling commercial district, Morayfield is a residential suburb in the far north of Brisbane. It was named after Morayshire in Scotland by George Raff, who moved to the area in 1868 after purchasing land once owned by the Caboolture Cotton Company.

Things to do in Morayfield

In the heart of Morayfield is the Morayfield Shopping Centre, which is home to big-name retail stores, global eateries and supermarkets. It overlooks CT & LM Williams Park, where you’ll find leafy walking trails and children’s play equipment. Directly across the road is the Morayfield Tavern, where you can dine on classic pub fare and modern Australian cuisine.

History buffs shouldn’t miss a visit to the remains of the Oaklands Sugar Mill, which was originally built in 1865 on the south bank of the Caboolture River. Brick foundations, mounds and depressions are all that remain of the labourers' cottages, blacksmith shop and carriage house that once stood on the site, alongside a homestead where plantation owner Captain Claudius Buchanan Whish lived.

Morayfield makes an ideal base for visiting Bribie Island, which is ringed by gorgeous beaches and home to an abundance of wildlife that includes kangaroos, emus and goannas. Join a guided boat tour of Pumicestone Passage to spot dugongs, turtles and dolphins or stretch your legs while hiking through Bribie Island National Park. If you drive in the other direction from Morayfield, you’ll arrive at D’Aguilar National Park, which encompasses rugged gorges and native forest.
