Separated from Manhattan by the Harlem River, Randall’s Island is a natural oasis in the heart of New York City. It was integrated with the adjacent Wards Island and Sunken Meadow Island in the 1950s, creating a sports and recreational hub that’s connected to Manhattan and the Bronx via vehicle, bicycle and pedestrian bridges.
Admire the historic Hell Gate railroad bridge that links Queens to Randall’s Island and is considered one of the sturdiest bridges in New York City. Visit the cutting- edge track and field venue of Icahn Stadium or head to Sportime, an indoor-outdoor tennis centre with 20 courts.
Randall’s Island is home to restored wetlands that can be explored on foot, as well as waterfront bicycle and pedestrian pathways. Practice your drive and putting skills at the Randall’s Island Golf Center or coincide your visit with one of the music festivals, such as Lollapalooza, that take place on the island throughout the year.
