About Tathra

A charming seaside village on the Sapphire Coast, Tathra cherishes its colonial heritage but thrives as a popular destination for anglers, outdoor enthusiasts and oyster aficionados. From national parks to sparkling waterways and sandy beaches, Tathra doesn’t hold back.

Things to do

You can also go cycling or try paddling on Bega River. Take an evening break for craft beer and live entertainment at the Heritage-listed Tathra Hotel, founded in the late-1800s.

Coastal parks on either side of Tathra provide rich nature-filled activities, such as bushwalking, camping, sailing, kayaking and whale watching. Just south of Tathra, experienced hikers can spend a day trekking the Kangarutha walking track in Bournda National Park.

On the north side of Tathra, Mimosa Rocks National Park harbours mysterious honeycomb sea caves and looming rock formations. You can also stop by the shop at Tathra Oysters, where they harvest Sydney rock oysters at pristine wilderness oyster farms in Nelsons Lake.
