About Sai Mai

With its leafy residential streets and friendly locals, Sai Mai is a fantastic base for exploring the Big Mango. It sits to the north-east of Bangkok which means you can reach popular districts like Khao San Road or trendy Sukhumvit in under one hour. Wander around the streets and you’ll find pad thai stalls and colourful fruit markets around every corner.

Things to do in Sai Mai

Just 35 kilometers from downtown Bangkok, Sai Mai puts you in the heart of the “City of Angels”. The opulent Grand Palace shines in the sunlight and offers a glimpse at Thailand’s royal legacy. Wat Phra Kaew is another cultural highlight, known for its reclining emerald Buddha.

There’s no better place to embrace Bangkok’s legendary nightlife than at nearby Sukhumvit. Home to sleek rooftop bars and trendy restaurants, it’s where Bangkok’s beautiful people go to play. The Above Eleven rooftop bar is a great place for sunset cocktails, while Levels Club & Lounge boasts one of the best sound systems in the city.

Feel like escaping the crowds? You can enjoy a sunset cruise down the Chao Phraya River or learn how to make authentic Thai cuisine at a cooking class. You can also retreat to leafy Lumphini Park, known as the “Green Lungs” of Bangkok. With more than 8,000 stalls, cavernous Chatuchak Market is one of Bangkok’s most famous shopping destinations. Sai Mai is an easy taxi or tuk tuk ride away from the market, which makes it perfect for a day trip. Fill your suitcase with vintage threads, electronic goods, knockoff handbags and anything else your heart desires.

Getting around Sai Mai

Bangkok’s high humidity makes taxis the most comfortable mode of transport. They’re convenient, fast, and can whisk you from Sai Mai to downtown Bangkok in around 30 minutes. If the weather permits, navigating Bangkok’s ultra-efficient Skytrain or metro network is a great alternative.
