Things to do in Uijeongbu

Want to see one of South Korea’s most spectacular temples? Journey to Mangwolsa, or “Watching Moon Temple”, which is nestled on the slopes of a rocky mountain near Uijeongbu. It was built in 639AD as a place for people to pray for the royal family and nation while gazing at the full moon, which is symbolic of the Buddha’s enlightenment.

Outdoor enthusiasts can tackle the walking trails of Surak Mountain, where rugged peaks are interspersed with lush valleys to the south of Uijeongbu. Go trekking to the Ongnyu waterfalls and Silla-era Heungguksa Temple, with royal azaleas igniting the landscapes in spring.
